Bring these four beauty products to Fiji

Bring these four beauty products to Fiji

aSeven kilograms of luggage.

That's all I was allowed to carry on the plane to Fiji.

An extra hundred dollars to check a bag for a week? No thank you.

If you're traveling light like me, here are four things you absolutely cannot forget to pack:

Bug Spray (Remos Lavender)

You're going to want bug spray, and you're going to want it to work. Originally purchased in Vietnam, this lavender-scented spray has not let me down. I did carry it around everywhere, though -- my sweating forced me to constantly reapply. (Around $2.50AUD at Watsons.)

Shampoo and Conditioner Bar (Anihana Blue Ocean)

This Anihana Blue Ocean shampoo and conditioner bar has changed the way I wash my hair. Being my first shampoo bar, I wasn't sure if it would work. A couple of uses later? I'm sold. My friend said my hair looked like I'd gotten a blowout -- literally thanks to this bar.  $17 at Coles.

SPF (Naked Sundays Glow Face Mist)

I was so scared airport security was going to take this away, but it made it through! This spray smells divine and is an easy way to reapply SPF while staying cool. (Psst, this isn't my first bottle!) The big bottle is $38 at Naked Sundays.

Eye Mask (Manta Sleep)

It's official: I'm an eye mask girly! From the plane to my bright hostel room, this Manta Sleep mask cushioned my eyeballs and led me to some seriously snoozy sleeps. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it's worth it. $65 AUD at Manta Sleep.

My Bag

My Patagonia Tres Grande 45L Pack has been with me for over three years. It's survived multiple airplanes, trains, and even boats! This backpack comes with a crossbody strap as well as stowable backpack straps.

It has a zippered clamshell opening with multiple compartments for easy packing, and I often attach a TPU strap or two onto the front to hold my hoodie, blanket, or second bag.

While my exact model is no longer sold in stores, the replacement is the Patagonia Black Hole MLC 45L, which is made with 100% recycled fabric and lining, plus a recycled TPU-film laminate that makes the Black Hole even more water-resistant than the Tres Grande.

I got mine at MEC on sale for $180. The up-to-date version is available at Patagonia for $369.95, while an Amazon dupe is $139.99. A similar Patagonia bag is also available on Amazon for $397.18.
